SAMPLE - CLIENT LETTER
April 15, 2004
Dear Client,
As you may be aware, new regulations regarding Notaries Public are going into effect May 15, 2004.
Specifically with regard to court proceedings, such as depositions, the Notary Public is now required to
obtain satisfactory identification from deponents before placing them under oath.
Beginning May 15th court reporters from this agency will not administer an oath to a witness unless they
present with a driver’s license, passport, military ID, welfare card, or ID issued by a state school
which includes their photograph and signature.
Please be sure to remind your deponents it is their duty to satisfactorily identify themselves to the Notary
Public, as it will be costly to reschedule a deposition if these minimum standards are not met.
Thank you for your anticipated cooperation.
Sincerely,
(Your Name)
