Darlene has been a freelance reporter in the Greater Boston area for 21 years. She is a graduate of Massachusetts Bay Community College with a degree in Applied Science in Court and Conference Reporting. In addition to her membership in MCRA, Darlene is also a member of NCRA and NHCRA. She was appointed to the board in 2015.
Megan Castro, CSR (MA), RPR

Megan earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from George Washington University in Washington, DC, in 2001 and soon thereafter enrolled in court reporting school. She first attended Brown College in Atlanta through their online program and then completed her training at New England Court Reporting Institute in Boston. She began working as a court reporter in 2006 and was appointed to the board in 2014.
Jill Kourafas, CSR (MA)
Jill is a 1985 graduate of Massachusetts Bay Community College where she obtained an Associates Degree in Court/Conference Reporting. Jill was a freelance reporter for several Boston reporting firms until she formed Reporters, Inc. located in Quincy, MA. Jill was appointed to the board in 2012.
Jackie Curran, CSR (MA), RPR, RMR
Jackie has been a freelance reporter since 1994 when she graduated from Massachusetts Bay Community College. Since then, she has obtained her CSR, RPR and RMR certifications. She started her own agency in 1999 and has continued to work as a freelance reporter while continuing to manage her firm. Jackie is also an active member in NCRA and MCRA. She was appointed to the board in 2016.
Dawn Mack-Boaden, (MA), RPR
After graduating from Erwin Technical College in Tampa, Florida in 1997 in court reporting, Dawn worked as an official in Florida for two years and has been a freelance reporter in Boston since 1999. She has been a member of NCRA and MCRA for many years. Dawn joined the board in 2018.
Catherine Zelinski, CSR
Catherine trained at Johnson & Wales College in 1983 and continued her education at The Cittone Institute in her home state of New Jersey. She began her career as a freelance stenographer in NJ before moving to MA, working as a freelance stenographer in the Greater Boston area for Melvin Lipman. Catherine trained under Nancy Eaton and transitioned to CART Provider in 2006. She has worked as a CART provider at many local colleges and universities as well as continuing her work as a freelance stenographer. Catherine is on several state contracts providing stenotype services and is also a member of NCRA. She was appointed to the board in May 2020.
Kathryn is re-joining the board after having served eight years in the past. She has been a court reporter for 28 years and an agency owner for 20. She is involved in many volunteer efforts which benefit the court reporting profession. Kathryn will be heading up our Legislative Committee, so if any member has a question or concern, her door will always be open.
Kathy graduated from Champlain College in 1986 with degrees in Court Reporting and Legal Secretarial studies. Upon graduation she moved to Boston from her home state of Vermont where she has worked continually as a freelance court reporter. Katherine joined the MCRA board as a director in 2020.
Janet Wynne, CSR (MA), RPR
After obtaining an Associate’s Degree in Legal Administration from Bunker Hill in 1978 and then working in a small law office for two years, Janet went on to obtain an Associate’s Degree in Court and Conference Reporting from Mass Bay in 1982.
She worked as a freelance court reporter in the Boston area until the mid ‘90s and then became a stay-at-home mom. She returned to the profession in 2008 and continued to work in the same capacity for several years until ultimately moving to the Cape Cod area and starting her own agency.
Marianne Wharram, CSR, RPR, CRR
Marianne earned her Bachelor of Arts in English from Georgia State University in 1987 and her Diploma in Court Reporting from Hesser College in 1996. She has worked as a freelance reporter in Massachusetts and New Hampshire since that time. Marianne was appointed to the board in 2019.
Lori graduated from Massachusetts Bay Community College in 1991. She has worked as a freelance court reporter in Massachusetts and Rhode Island since 1991. Lori was appointed to the MCRA board in 2019.
